Maiella National Park
The Maiella National Park is a protected area, located in South-Central Italy, in the Abruzzo region, along the Apennines Chain, of high ecological and conservation value for the safeguard of the Apennine wolf (Canis lupus italicus), Apennine Brown Bear (Ursus arctos marsicanus), Apennine Chamois (Rupicapra pyrenaica ornata) and other wild mammals. Within the activities of the Wildlife Research Center of the Park, vets and biologist have undertaken activities of wildlife conservation and management, also based on capture activities and application of GPS radio collars. The WRC has developed in recent years some collaboration activities, for exchanging good practices, scientific updates, start of scientific and management cooperation, or intensive course on wildlife management. Caramanico Terme
We welcome you in Caramanico Terme, a little pearl of the Middle Ages in the province of Pescara listed among Italy's Most Beautiful Villages, surrounded by the splendid natural frame of the Maiella National Park.
It was founded in the 7th century, at the height of the Lombards era, by Duke Theodolapius who had it built on a promontory located above the confluence of the Orta and Orfento rivers, perched on a naturally defended ridge.

HOW TO REACH CARAMANICO TERME
Flights: - Pescara Airport is the closest airport and is located about 45 km away from Caramanico.
- The airports of Rome are about 200 km away from Caramanico. You can take a bus to Pescara or Chieti from there.
By train: You can reach Scafa train station and, from there, continue by bus.

By bus from Pescara, Pescara Airport, Chieti Scalo and Scafa: you can travel from Pescara/Chieti to Caramanico with TUA, the local bus company. Unfortunately, there are no available bus rides listed on their website for October. They will update them in September. Then you can search for the rides here: https://tua.mycicero.it/TPWebPortal/en. Generally, there are at least 4/5 rides a day from Pescara to Caramanico, from 7:00 until 19:00. It may be necessary to change buses in some cases.
If you decide to leave Caramanico on Sunday, you may encounter difficulties with the buses, as the rides are reduced. Therefore, we cannot guarantee for the time being that there will be a TUA bus from Caramanico to Scafa on that day. You may need to consider other ways to reach scafa.
By car: A25 Pescara-Roma toll highway - Scafa-Alanno exit. It's a 20 km drive from there. Follow the signs towards San Valentino in Abruzzo Citeriore, pass it, and then continue towards Caramanico.
